Windows 10 window stays black?

I wanted to play NosTale again. (Not played since the end of 2018.) Before that, I cleaned up my laptop and deleted unnecessary data. After that the game started and it didn't quite want to, so I wanted to uninstall and reinstall it. The first one didn't work. No idea why. Then threw Gameforge down so I can play it on Steam. Only my NosTale account is not connected to Steam, so I wanted to connect NosTale to Steam in Gameforge so that it works on Steam. So downloaded Gamforge Client.

And here is the problem. The program opens. The window remains black. I have already uninstalled it and downloaded it without AddBlocker, restarted the laptop and screwed down the screen resolution. So those were the only things I found. And the official NosTale site no longer exists. So I can't do anything about it.

What else can I do…

Whatever "unnecessary data" you deleted - some were not unnecessary.
It is possible to understand exactly what you shot in the delete action.

In general, you make backups for such cases, which you then play back.

I actually read and looked at everything that I no longer have on my laptop. I left where I was unsure.

could a new installation possibly fix the problem?

ta

Maybe - maybe not - I said again: It is possible to understand exactly what you shot in the delete action.

Why don't you use a backup?
This will restore a configuration with which it once worked.
You can use this to determine whether the deletion was really the cause (although this is most likely based on the error description!)
A "new setup" does not do this.

Oh yes: a few general words about it - mchawks gfn phrase 15:
Reinstalling or "resetting the system" is not a reset or restart.

This does not eliminate any errors - especially in situations in which laypersons tend to use this function: in the event of hardware errors.
This only destroys system logs that could have been analyzed for errors - especially in the case of hardware errors.

The system is also not accelerated or "detoxified". This is just an esoteric effect that is eliminated when you start to reinstall your programs.

A little research on this platform is also sufficient to see that the "reset" causes so many problems and often completely excludes the user from his system that one should avoid this function like the devil does holy water.

It is not a DoItYourself solution for laypeople, at best it is the last resort when professionals can't think of anything else. (And even then, professionals would reinstall Windows from an installation disc!)

dr

Because I didn't make a backup. I know it was stupid. But I didn't immediately think of something like that. I'm currently burning Windows 10 to DVD and reinstalling Windows. (Don't worry. It's legal.) Would that help instead of resetting?

ta

I can only repeat myself: can be - can't be.
The probability is high that it is. But I can't guarantee anything.

In any case, an installation on data media runs more smoothly than on "reset". At least based on the problem reports that open here.

dr

Ok, then I'll give it a try. It is my turn to create a system image. So not much happens if the installation goes wrong.

dr

I tried to reinstall Windows 10. Only when it comes to the boot order does it not show my disk. I have a DVD. Unfortunately I don't have an 8GB USB stick. But actually that should also work with a DVD. Do you have an idea why this is not displayed?
