How do I get the HDMI signal on the laptop?

I connected a Nes Mini to the laptop with an HDMI cable. How do I see the HDMI signal? I also have a cable with an AC / DC adapter and DC connection at the other end, do I have to use this cable somehow?

Not at all you need a monitor to see the picture, since the laptop is only an hdmi output
