My PC receives the Wi-Fi via a stick, which for some reason is extremely slow. If I place my laptop or my mobile phone next to it, the internet is worlds better. I made several speed tests which all say that there's nothing wrong with my internet. Here is the result of the actual test:
Upload 6.02 Mb / s Download 4.07 Mb / s
The reality, however, is usually that I have a download rate of 50-300 kb and so even browsing the internet is almost impossible. Since the rate is rarely but sometimes higher, I have the assumption that it might be due to any programs or the like. According to Task Manager, my network is also completely underutilized.
It is not possible to lay a LAN cable to the PC, otherwise I would have done so long ago. I have already tried a number of sticks and all had the same result. Another test with the tool Telekom has revealed the following:
Download 1.47 Mbps
Upload 6.73 Mbps
Ping 18ms
Well, if you have already determined that the Wi-Fi is grottig, it makes little sense to test the W-Lan your Internet connection.
Your home network is just always your pleasure that does not interest your provider, especially since he has no influence on it.
Now you can either try to upgrade your W-Lan (use other receivers such as a Ne W-Lan card in the PC, use repeaters, switch to MESH network or googlend which routers have good antennas) or use an alternative. Cable, you say, does not work. How it looks z.b. Out with D-links? (Adapters that use the power network as a network cable)
Otherwise, the possibilities are limited.
If you want to test your Internet, go straight to your router with a laptop, plug in a cable, turn off your W-Lan and do a speed test (it does not matter where you are, as well as all other sites are)
The Wi-Fi is not as good on the other devices as the Lanverbindung, but these still have a stable download rate of more than 6mb / s.
I already use the router connected via Lan repeater. The distance between the repeater and PC is not the cause of the problem because as I said the other devices in the same place the Wi-Fi well received.
Wi-Fi is always difficult to diagnose with simple logic.
There are so many factors here that seemingly nonsensical constellations are possible.
Have you ever seen field lines… Similarly, you can imagine radio waves, only the so many devices which send out… With you, your neighbors and everywhere, that are very fast disturbers in your frequency on the way. Here is then a slight structural difference in receivers sufficient to have completely different reception qualities.
As I've already mentioned you can try other devices, which sometimes helps, is the W-Lan channel to manually determine (standard is car).
In principle, sticks are of course not the yellow of the egg.
If it must already be W-Lan, rather a W-Lan PCI card for the PC.
Do you have a USB extension (or a USB hub), with which you can move the stick to another location? (10 cm sometimes mean something like that to something like that)
Also try to start the PC from a live system with good hardware detection (eg Knoppix). This allows us to determine if it is more of a hardware or software thing.
Thank you for your detailed advice.
I'll get a PCI card and hope that it works.
With pleasure.
Small tip: You have a right of return.
Then you have to hope less and can do more testing.
In the case of distance selling, that is 14 days. Answer: if you order a card, you can easily test it once a week and send it back if the result is not satisfactory. Saves money.
I do not have a USB extension. Do I have to install Knoppix or can I boot it via a USB stick?
Directly from USB stick.
Knoppix is a live system, d. H. It is designed to run without installation, directly from the removable media.
May I ask how many other devices are running in your household at the same time?
Do you have packages like unitymedia, where you can watch TV?
on a 50Mbit line, your maximum speed is no faster than 6.25 megabytes. (MegaBit / 8 = megabytes).
Thus, I believe that all other devices in your household claim the difference of about 2 megabytes in any way (updates for apps and operating systems or normal Internet use)
With the card it can run similarly bad as with the stick. So if map please with external antennas that can be placed away from the PC, that would be the same trick that PWolff proposed with the extension. The PC case may obstruct the radio by shading or refelecting.
Believe the most cards are now nen nen connection for external antennas have.
Of course, guarantor is not, of course, so I wrote that with the return, so you can test without risking his money.
