Can you clone M2 hard drive Windows to 2.5 SSD?

I bought an SSD for my laptop and wanted to clone Windows on it because the old hard drive had too little space. Now I have found that a M2 is installed and an HDD as mass storage. Is it possible to use the 2.5 "SSD as a normal Windows disk and at the same time as a mass storage device? So that the M2 doesn't really matter anymore.

Don't do it!

Why?

Yes it is possible, simply remove the SSD from the boot process in the BIOS or deactivate it completely. Alternatively, you can simply delete them and not format them. Then you can access it at any time, but still "conjure up" a little memory in an emergency without restarting the laptop.

This is absolutely not sensible, as M.2 SSDs often use NVME and can therefore be much faster than SATA SSDs, such as the 2.5-inch SSD.

Therefore, you could lose a lot of your performance.

If the M.2 SSD is an Intel Optane, then be sure to leave it activated. This will not be shown to you as storage, but it acts as an extremely fast cache that will also help your SSD!

Is much slower

The speed is not too important to me, of course, it should be faster than an HDD, for me it's primarily about the space on the disk

Still, why not take the 2nd SSD with you? It also has memory and you can throw photos or something like that on it if you have to. You can use the space!
