Which background programs to delete from the laptop?

My laptop keeps roaring because it is constantly working on something. It is extremely slow. I read I should stop background programs. Only which ones? I have dozens of programs under "Services Settings" whose importance I can't assess.

It absolutely has to run faster.

Am grateful for any help! 🙏

No

Close everything in the task manager except for the window processes and deactivate everything in the autostart

Cu

Can you send a screenshot so we can advise you on the programs?

Current tasks and autostart please.

Bo

How do I get there? "Task Manager"? 🙏

st

Enter '

Win + R

There

msconfig

Show you which programs are loading to start. They are often updaters, for example from Adobe. Nobody needs them.

I have the field open now. About 250 programs are listed under Services. About half of it is carried out. How do I know which ones I can disable?

Bo

I went under Win + R and entered msconfig. About 250 programs are listed under Services, half of which are running. Do you mean this?

st

Click once "Do not show MS services", this will reduce the number. Then look to see if you can recognize programs. Some "updaters" are almost certain to do so, and always are if you are not careful.

Which services you can deactivate is unfortunately very, very complex. In any case, you can deactivate "search", the search service. He runs continuously. Search something like "Agent Ransack" instead. Finds very quickly, even without indexing, which is always running.

No, I mean in the task manager

Bo

With win + R and msconfig there's a display with 5 menus. General, Start, Services, Autostart and Tools. Unfortunately I don't see "Do not show MS services" here. And where can I enter "search" or "Agent Ransack" because there's no line here to enter words.

Bo

How do I get there?

Cu

CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE

Then "show more"

st

It is in the Start tab, but the list can no longer be seen there (I just tried it).

Therefore, please click on the task manager (stg + alt + del) and there the Autostart tab.

Completely different construction site are services:

you have to be logged in as admin for services. There you get the menu from the help and click through the services. There you can deactivate search, maybe it's called MS-Search. Right click on it and deactivate it.

Third construction site: Agent Ransack is freeware that you have to download. Is from Mythisoft. Have to click a bit until you find the free version. Then install. Is better than Windows search, finds more.

See my comment

I'm now in the task manager! 😃 There's no "show any more" here, but there are 7 menu fields. And under "Performance" I see that the RAM is 80% full.
