Moin everyone,
I have an old Toshiba hard drive from my grandpa from 2014. 500 GB and used. If I want to boot them up in a laptop. The laptop does not start up. If I plug it into my computer as an external hard drive, you can see it, one partition with 250 GB that is empty and another that belongs to this hard drive. However, the second partition does not show the storage space, how much is used and how much is left. The first partition can be opened and there are no files. The second partition can neither be opened nor right-click and examine properties. Does anyone have a tip on how to get the hard drive up and running again? Or maybe there's a way to save files? I only need 2 files from the disk. Then it can be formatted (which also does not work in the current state of the disk). Recuva also does not recognize the hard disk, which means that I can't save files.
I would go with the TotalCommander.
If the system is Linux, you need an Ubuntu DVD.
If the hard drive is not ok, then there's Testdisk and Photorec.
However, this is not so easy to use.
Is a Windows operating system
Test disk and photorec.
Do I want to read the hard disk by program "Connect f: \ *. *" Can you help me there?
With the total commander?
Yes exactly
Tried test disk. However, with Testdisk and Photorec, "Please wait…" and nothing more is at the very beginning of both processes.
Hmm, I've never had that. Possibly. The partition is broken.
