For me the browser is devinitive.
Windows, without a lot of what I do on the PC, would not be needed.
I love notion. Simply the perfect note program. Otherwise Anki Flashcards or the Task Manager 😂
I wouldn't speak of favorite applications, but here are the programs that I think you should have.
An operating system, here I use a Windows or a Linux distribution
A web browser, here I use Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, among others
An email program, here I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird
An office suite, here I use LibreOffice.
A decent image editing program, here I mostly use Paint.NET
A media player, here I use the VLC media player
Otherwise it depends on your own interests.
Since you have also set the tag "Games and Gaming", it is advisable to install the common game services such as Steam, GOG, Ubisoft Connect (Uplay), Origin, etc. Here. Depending on where you buy / own your games over it.
Then also the (voice) chat programs used such as Discord or TeamSpeak, depending on what you are using.
The Process Explorer (better Task Manager), Autoruns, Notepad ++, HxD, XAMPP, PuTTY or Wireshark are also mandatory programs for me. But my job and hobby also play a role here.
