This depends on the cable and the resolution.
The following resolutions are possible with DisplayPort 1.4:
7680 x 4320 - 60 Hz
3840 x 2160 - 120 Hz
1920x1080 - 144Hz
Also, your laptop must have MiniDP 1.4 to reach these rates.
