I would like to put together a gaming setup. I have had a normal laptop for normal desktop work for a long time. In the meantime I would like to be able to play my games on the PC / laptop and have already dealt a lot with components for building my own PC. Inevitably, one can't avoid the conclusion that gaming PCs are generally much more suitable for normal gamers. But now I have asked myself the question of how it looks to convert a normal laptop for gaming by adding an external graphics card or something (I'm not yet fully informed about what is possible). In any case, my question is whether something like that makes sense and what would speak for or against it
Well, to what extent you can turn your laptop into a gaming machine depends on which of the components you can replace yourself. In particular the graphics card.
Otherwise there are these solutions:
But as long as the graphics card prices are so astronomical, I wouldn't buy one at all.
If you can't or don't want to wait, the cheapest solution is probably a complete PC
If mobility is not a factor (i.e. That you can take it with you) then I would ALWAYS recommend a stand PC. You will surely benefit from it longer because it is easier to replace individual components when they slowly become obsolete or break. I got my first PC 14 years ago and just kept upgrading it over the years to stay up to date.
