Saw a gaming laptop on eBay classifieds. It sells for 290 euro
XMG p15 gaming laptop roccat edition
- I7 3820QM
- AMD Radeon HD 7970M
- 16GB DDR3 Ram
- 128GB SSD + 512GB HDD
- Display 1080p at 60fps
It still looks good but kp whether it is still running so smoothly. The seller said he bought the new one in 2012. (For 2320 euro)
should I buy it or not worth it
Certainly still usable as a laptop to work with; not really for gaming
Roughly speaking, I would say that games up to 2014-2015 will run quite well, everything after that only with reduced settings or not at all.
* But only if you can push the price, it is still not worth the price as a used device!
What do you mean? I do not understand
In my opinion, the laptop is really worth it, but would try to keep the price down in the negotiation, since the GPU in particular is not particularly good.
I would take age as an exclusion criterion. Regardless of the components, dust builds up over time and the components simply reach their mechanical limits. HDD hard drives are available for 8-10 years, that would be achieved now. Sure, it can last 10 years, but ask yourself: What do you do when something breaks? Can you retrofit something yourself?
As I said, age is a deterrent. I'd better add something and get a simple, new computer.
As far as gaming is concerned: Gaming usually simply means high-end area. A 9 year old computer will no longer be able to perform with the latest games because after 9 years the components are no longer in the high end area.
First you determine what you want for yourself and then I would get a newer laptop.
For simple office applications and internet use, I see computers for 400-500 euro as sufficient. If you want to go into gaming from mainstream games like AV Valhalla, Cyberpunk or something, then you are in the range of 750-1000 euro and if you are really into performance-heavy games, it goes towards 2000 euro, you notice it fluctuates a lot ^^ .
You can take it.
