Adapter or cable for HDMI 2.0 to Display Port?

So I bought a gaming laptop and a gaming monitor. My laptop has an HDMI 2.0 connection and my monitor has an HDMI 2.0 and DP connection. My monitor is 144 Hz capable and I have heard that an HDMI cable transmits max. 120 Hz. Now I wanted to look for a cable that has quasi NEN HDMI and NEN DP connection to display the 144Hz on the monitor.
but apparently there's no cable or adapter that can transfer from HDMI to DP but only from DP to HDMI.

any of you might have an idea

HDMI to DP or DP to HDMI cable is the same! Also have one and works on both sides

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

In the first forums there's always talk of active cables that only go in one direction, and on Amazone I only find cables that explicitly tell me in the description that it only goes in one direction if I want 144Hz.
can you please tell me which cable you bought?

If the HDMI only manages 120 Hz, it won't get any better despite the adapter, because on the one hand (depending on which one you use the adapter on) only the 120 Hz are passed on from the HDMI.

Or am I wrong about it?

The way it looks to me, unfortunately you can't fully exploit the potential of your monitor, since the "source", i.e. The HDMI 2.0 output from your gaming laptop, "only" supports 120hz. Do you have another outlet on your laptop? DisplayPort or miniDisplayPort? Then that would be possible.

Have found a Mini DP, so just buy a cable and then there shouldn't be any loss of performance, right?

You can do that with mini DP
