Would like to play it safe with my new laptop… Which program can you recommend? It would be best if it was free, but if they were bad, there was one that cost money

st

Malwarebytes is very good. I think there's a trial version, after that you can still use some functions, but a premium version is offered.

Windows 10 brings along the Defender. Enough completely, costs nothing further and doesn't annoy with advertising.

Pi

Nowadays, Windows Defender is one of the best anti-virus programs that you can use as a consumer.

in short: windows defender is usually good enough

Can I advertise here? No matter: I have been using Bitdefender for my Windows computers and Macs in the household for years. Never had problems. That of course costs money. But I got away from the free programs and have never looked back. Security has to cost something. Greeting

Ca

Great thank you? Where do I get this defender from or is it on it anyway? And does it cost anything? Now I have this 30 day trial version of mcafee on it

Windows defender is preinstalled but mcafee deactivates it if it is installed so you have to activate it again in the windows settings

Pa

This is included with Windows 10. You can configure it in the settings under Windows Security, if necessary.

Ca

OK thanks! Where exactly do I activate this? Respectively. Should I activate it only when the mcafee test period is over or?

Ca

Thanks, where exactly?

Pi

In the settings for update and security: Windows security: Open Windows security: Fours & threat protection: Settings for fours & threat protection

Pa

In the settings under Windows security

If you don't get any money from Bitdefender and if you are convinced to recommend a product / service, that is by definition not an advertisement.

Just stay with the Defender that comes with Windows.

In addition for emergencies, I would also recommend creating a Kaspersky Rescue USB Bootstick. This will also get rid of extremely stubborn pests that can't be removed while Windows is running. It works like this:

Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO: https://support.kaspersky.com/de/viruses/krd2018

Then write the ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/ on an empty formatted USB stick.
Then boot the created stick and follow the instructions of the assistant.
