What do I need to install on my Windows 10 laptop for the game to work?

System requirements for the game:

Premium III, 1GHz, 15MB free hard disk space, DirectX-compatible 8MB video card, DirectX-compatible sound card, Windows 98/2000 / XP (32-bit version), DirectX 8.1 or better, Internet Explorer from version 5.0.

If you're lucky, the game's compatibility mode with the oldest Windows available is enough
Otherwise a virtual box would be needed

Ar

And what does the game come from? Record, floppy disk? And above all which one?

ta

Title question: Well, the game. What else?
You wrote down the compatibility nicely. Then you also know what kind of computer you need for this.

de

The most important information is unfortunately missing: Which game do you mean?

There are quite a few older games that will not run under Win10.

This is often due to the copy protection used on the CD / DVD versions.

You may even need a USB DVD drive first. There are even classic 3.5 "floppy disk drives for the USB port.

However, some older titles can also be bought for little money in an online store.

I would particularly recommend https://www.gog.com, which specialize in getting older titles to run on current systems. But of course they can't have everything in their offer either.

And sometimes you actually have to fall back on old hardware and an old operating system to get such old titles running again.

If you tell us the game and the associated data carrier, we may be able to tell you more about it.

Maybe there are more modern alternatives.

de

Even if it sounds silly to some, a "record" is quite suitable as a data carrier.

This is basically the same as with the "Datasette" of the C64, which was also an analogue sound carrier (audio cassette) on which digital data was stored.

A few months ago I had read an online article that reported how a tech geek had put something like this into practice.

It was more about the technical feasibility than about a practicable possibility.

That's really interesting, thanks for the articles. I also know the datasette personally… It was funny when nuts unintentionally put the thing in the stereo.

Brew Dwarues 2 is the name of the game.

As

Do you know which virtual box would be needed?

As

This is a CD Rom

Po

Win XP or older should then be on the virtual box

I'm not familiar with the virtual box itself, I use the VMware Player myself

Ar

Then it can be good that a "locked" copy protection is used:

As

It's not about the computer, but what you can do to avoid needing the computer

ta

You can't do anything.
