I have a laptop from 2005 and accidentally deleted Windows XP. The laptop can only boot from a CD or floppy disk. Is it possible somehow to put Windws XP directly onto the hard drive so that it boots from there?
Install of course.
And how does it work?
Put the CD in and off you go.
I don't have a CD
Yes, of course, like this: https://www.bestetipps.de/computer/windows-tipps/windows-10-installation-per-usb-stick-und-festplatte-iso-datei/
(for XP or 7 etc. You would have to load the appropriate install and then burn it briefly).
But if you have 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM, please make sure to try Win 10. Sometimes it works better than you think. My oldest 2002 laptop runs like a 1 with Win10.
Thank you
The problem of how to bring XP to the hard drive now? That shouldn't be so easy, especially since the disk should also have two partitions and the CD should be on D. Then you could boot with a start disk and switch to D in DOS mode and run the setup.
I want to have seen how you want to explain to an old computer from 2005 that it boots from USB. I don't want to rule out that it is possible, but it takes more than basic knowledge.
