Which graphics card for CAD?

I want to buy a new laptop for my studies. However, I don't know how good the graphics card has to be in order to use CAD.

For example, would a DDR4-SDRAM UHD Graphics 620 with 16GB ram and intel core i7 be enough?

What exactly do I have to pay attention to?

So with a Intel integrated gpu, I would rather leave it a real one like ne 1660 from Nvidia or better

The software manufacturers usually announce the system requirements. E.g. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/de/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/DEU/System-requirements-for-AutoCAD-2019-including-Specialized-Toolsets.html

A "normal" GTX1660 Super is sufficient for CAD. Can you get a 5500XT,

Btw: Which board and CPU do you have exactly?

Ro

If your studies include CAD applications with as the main point, I would better choose a specialized GPU from AMD's "Fire Pro", or Nvidia's "Quadro-Series" for the CAD graphics calculations.

The chip technology itself does not differ so fundamentally from consumer products such as AMD Radeon / Vega or Nvidia Geforce, but these two "professional lines" offer significantly more functionality and drivers.

What exactly do I have to pay attention to?

In the case of professional graphics cards from AMD (Fire Pro) or Nvidia (Quadro), it depends on which graphics chip is hidden, depending on the model, for comparison with "standard cards".

Similar to video editing, the manufacturers of the software should provide information about which graphics card technology is supported or preferred.

Let's put it this way: I would be surprised if Intel chips were given.
The CUDA interface from nvidia is often used by various programs for processor support.

But important: check the requirements of the software. Anything else would be advisable.
