Laptop boots up, display stays black?

Since today i have had the problem that the screen of my laptop stays black. It starts up in the background, I think, but the screen only flickers shortly after switching on, but neither the manufacturer's logo nor the Windows logon screen appear.

Repeated shutdowns of the laptop and switching on again did not help. It would not have fallen off or anything like that, whereby the display could have broken.

The funny thing is that when I connect it to the TV via HDMI cable, the screen flickers only shortly after pressing the power button, but nothing else happens.

Charging cable is still charging, all LEDs are flashing. Even when I removed my upgraded SSD and installed the old HDD, the problem was the same. Brief flickering, then no picture.

Battery also sits correctly. Strange, two days ago he was still walking. I can't even get into the boot menu or into safe mode.

Does anyone here know any advice?

Maybe the contact gel is no longer there and so that it does not overheat, it doesn't work properly at that time you also have to google it and you can have it repaired for 20 eur

Backlight defective? But then you should still get a picture via HDMI. On the other hand, you only have that after logging into Windows.

A repair shop can probably help best. You can't tell from a distance. Maybe just one cable is loose.

Hmm do you mean the contact gel on the processor? Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get there, I guess almost that it is soldered to the mainboard… Laptop is almost 10 years old. Last year I only increased the RAM from 4 to 8GB and swapped the HDD for an SSD, which has increased the speed enormously. But I can't get to the processor, and I don't know how either. I think you would have to completely dismantle it.

But thanks for your answer, will keep it in mind.

Many Thanks! If nothing happens now, I'll go see one.

Mine didn't want to charge anymore, so I unscrewed it and pulled out all the corresponding cables, cleaned something with compressed air spray and plugged it back in, and off I went.

The "contact gel" is also called thermal paste

Could it be that the graphics or the display have a problem?
