Total damage to laptop after shampoo has penetrated?

My dad found his laptop when he moved and noticed that he accidentally packed his laptop with shampoo.

As expected, it ran out and it got the laptop. I'm currently cleaning it, but I'm worried that it's pointless. Probably the shampoo was already in the laptop for days, because it was crumbly and a bit firm.

It would be a pity if he is no longer reparable, since he is just one year old.

Cleaning tips would be helpful.

Scrub everything thoroughly with isopropanol.

Has mostly met only the covers, with luck, it still works

I personally would clean the circuit neatly with isopropanol and then let it dry for a day.

Looks to me now not after a damage to the hardware, but only after damage to sheet metal parts.

You may have to buy the CD drive.

Ma

That sounds a bit better. The sockets, ie USB, LAN and charging jack have also gotten something. This then clean with the mentioned means?

Ma

Thanks a lot!

Yes with cotton buds toothpicks etc

The motherboard seems to have gotten nothing - great!

You will probably need a new drive and USB / network / power board. Top Case and the metal parts should be clean with alcohol. Residues will probably stay on it, but that's not too bad inside. What is that really for a crass shampoo?

Here you get the USB etc. Board including a new connection cable:

Thanks for your help! I'm trying to clean the metal with acetone, but that proves to be very problematic. I have already removed all liquid of shampoo. Would the laptop be ready for use again after the complete cleaning process as well as the drying time, without changing the (presumable) defective parts? The platinum set, I would then change the days.

I ask, because the battery has gotten a bit minimal but after a short clean again looks like a one.

po

If you do not get the metal completely clean, that's not too bad. It's just cosmetic. However, if it should rusty, then you should rather replace the corresponding parts.

You should also buy the right left hinge again, which has gotten too bad what.

Am I right that the laptop is a Toshiba C55-B? The model number can be found on the subfloor.

The power / USB board must be changed in any case before, otherwise there's a risk of short circuit. I would just leave the drive removed. Otherwise, the calculator has only set some rust, which is not a problem in the short term.

In the medium to long term you should, as I said, the hinge and all parts where you can't remove the rust exchange.

Model: C50D-B-115

Good, then I will swap the power USB board.

All right, then this is the right hinge: https://www.ipc-computer.de/toshiba/notebook/satellite-serie/c/c50/c50d-b/satellite-c50d-b-115/scharnier-28349440

Greet you my dear. The spare parts has finally arrived and just wanted to mount it. But just noticed that the charging socket is no longer in a top condition. Have already solved it and wanted to come back to you, as far as spare parts are concerned. Can you possibly pick out a suitable one or are there no differences?
