Why does my intel 5 only have 1ghz?

My laptop has an i5 processor and the description said that the laptop has 2 ghz but it only creates one ghz why is that?

Just because the processor can go up to 2 GHz doesn't mean it'll always take advantage of it.

He can manage up to 2ghz. Whether he does it is questionable

It doesn't depend on the I5, it depends on what the exact name is.
