Laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 + Vega 8 Graphics -Fast Game?

Once again have a question for you

I bought an HP laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 2500u + AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics. This is much faster compared to my previous AMD A8 7410 + AMD Graphics R5.

Occasionally, I also play games like Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 1 & 2. Due to graphics card + processor, I should with the Vega 8 have a significantly better performance than the R5.

I played with the old laptop on low settings and everything went smoothly. With the new one, however, I have the problem that after the first game, the performance is totally in the basement. Even at low settings it jerks, while it runs on the much worse other laptop (at the same time!)

Have the games stored on the SSD, all updates + drivers are up to date.

Why is that despite the good hardware I can't play fluently and the game performance is even below the old?

Ask for a detailed answer.

I would not recommend AMD I'm more of the Intel user and with a video card, I would always prefer NVIDIA.

What a competent answer

Thank you, I think the opinion of many.

Vega 8 is an onboard graphics card which comes without its own graphics memory therefore and therefore depends heavily on the bandwidth of your RAM.

If you want to maximize your ingame FPS you need Dual Channel RAM with the highest possible clock rate.

I guess that the laptop came with single channel 8GB RAM @ 2400MHz like almost everyone else, which of course is killing the performance of the GPU.

Why your other laptop had more FPS, I can't say unfortunately, maybe the synonymous had a lower screen resolution why the graphics card had not worked so much?

And now it itches whom, and helps the questioner how?

Sure, but the fact is that the questioner once has an AMD laptop. He is now available.

If I take my car to the garage because something is grinding somewhere, then I want to know what it is and do not hear from the mechanic "I would have bought a Mercedes, your BMW just is not good".

I would be such a mechanic.

I'm also Intel Fanboy but when the new Ryzen come out I will change 👍

Yes you are right, the Vega 8 is a lot faster than the R5. Achieve the speed of a GT1030 with the right RAM.

There seems to be something wrong with your system, even Fortnite plays quite well with the Vega 8.

You should run MSI Afterburner to see where it hangs. To do this, open the task manager to determine other loads.

Also pay attention to the latest drivers for the RYZEN.

Thank you for your answer.

But I have a dual channel DDR4 with 8GBytes and a NB frequency of 598.8 Mhz. That can't be it

In the old laptop, the screen resolution is actually set to minimum, with the new laptop at 1920 * 1080. Should I set it down to make it work better?
