Why do I have no sound in the Microsoft games on Windows 7?

I have a notebook with Windows 7 64 bit. The Microsoft games are also installed there, such as Chaess Titans, Purble Place, Solitaire, etc. However, the setting »Activate sound« is deactivated in the options (see screenshots of Chess Titans and Purble Place). The drivers for the sound card are up to date, so it can't be because of that. I also have sound in any other software (system, web content, other games, etc.).

The hardware is that of an HP Pavilion g6, built in 2012 (I'm sorry; I'm just too lazy to look for the exact details). For compatibility reasons (and others that I don't want to explicitly mention because it would go beyond the scope), I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10. The system is usually Not connected to the internet and rather intended for programming tasks (C # and .Net). But if I wanted to play Chess Titans, it would be nicer with sound…

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would recommend you when the May 2004 update for Windows 10 is released (May 28) to switch to Windows 10. Microsoft wants to make old devices faster again to encourage Windows 7 users to switch.

Thanks, but I just don't want to change. Windows 10 just doesn't work well on older hardware in my experience. I also need Windows 7, not Win 10.

That's exactly the point, Microsoft doesn't want Windows 7 to be used. Therefore, they want to remove all this stuff so that Windows 10 runs well on older hardware. But of course it is up to you whether you want to use Windows 7 or Windows 10
