So my buddy got an Asus laptop, which is also preinstalled with the latest Windows 10 version. Everything works great, including Intel HD Graphics. Only the onboard sound card doesn't work at all for some reason. In Windows 10, only the sound symbol with a red cross is displayed. We also installed the sound driver, rebooted it did not improve anything. What is still very strange is that the device manager does not even show that the onboard sound card is there. Do not even ask the sign, there was no entry with audio and video controller on it.
It worked immediately with an external sound card, but not with the on-board sound card for some reason.
Does anyone know what else you can do there?
Laptops always need specific drivers for their hardware. Look closely at the manufacturer for the model and take the drivers that are offered there for download and installation.
Hi
Well, if nothing is displayed in the device manager, no onboard audio device, not even something with an exclamation mark, then it's not the driver, because it can only be installed if the associated component is also available and can be found by Windows. That doesn't seem to be the case. Either the onboard audio device is deactivated in the BIOS / UEFI so that it can't be found by Windows or it is simply defective or Windows itself is completely disturbed.
activate the audio device in the BIOS / UEFI if it is deactivated
Reinstall Windows again
You can't do more with "home remedies".
So we looked in the BIOS setting and we didn't find anything where you can turn the onboard sound card on or off.
And no, it can't be because of Windows 10, because it is very freshly installed.
What is still very strange, despite the fact that this laptop also has Bluetooth, Windows 10 can't recognize it and installing the driver did not work either.
