I want to reset my HP laptop to the factory settings and have to go into recovery mode because I don't have a CD and therefore can't reset it otherwise. Windows 7 Home Premium is on the laptop. When I start it up, I get the message that I have to press F11, I've done this several times, but unfortunately nothing happens and the laptop starts up normally. Does anyone know why that is? How do I get my laptop into recovery mode to reset it, is there another option?
You have to turn off your laptop and when it starts up press F8 immediately.
So not F11: D I'll try it out tonight, thank you very much!
It depends on haha. The best test if F8 should not work all F keys.
You can find out how to reset your HP laptop to the factory settings in your user manual.
As far as I know, if the HP laptop can no longer be started, the recovery manager can also be called up when the F11 key is pressed in quick succession when starting.
If this does not work, it may be due to an error in the procedure, or that the recover has been damaged or the recovery partition has been deleted (e.g. During a Win7 installation). - The latter can be determined with a look at the data carrier management.
The Windows 7 product key is located on the bottom of the laptop. Write this down.
Then go to https://www.microsoft.com/...d/windows7 There you can download the Windows 7 ISO.
If you can boot from USB, you can write the Windows 7 ISO to a USB stick with Rufus https://rufus.ie/. You need an empty formatted USB stick. If you can't boot from USB, you can burn the Windows 7 ISO to an empty DVD with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/.
Then boot the stick or DVD and you can cleanly reinstall Windows 7.
But you have to consider that there's no support for Windows 7 anymore. But you can still switch to Windows 10 for free. The Windows 7 product key is also accepted when activated in Windows 10. More details here: https://www.chip.de/...05018.html
If you turn off all desktop effects in Windows 10, it will even run faster than Windows 7.
