Does the performance decrease when you connect a laptop to a monitor?

If I take any HP laptop and then connect it to this

If the monitor has a higher resolution than the laptop then the graphics performance is a bit, because it has to be extrapolated. The speakers don't matter. They can't change the performance.
But a medium-glass winner laptop should work from 720p to 1080p without any problems.
But you can set the resolution of the laptop monitor then you have zero graphic loss despite the monitor with possibly hearing possibilities. Just try it, nothing can be broken, if a higher resolution doesn't work, just turn it down again.
