HP 655 Notebook Windows 8.1 Networking Driver Not Available?

Since a few days my notebook (HP 655) no longer recognizes Wi-Fi networks, so I can't access the Internet any more. A BIOS update from the HP side did not work, except that in Device Manager the dot network driver completely disappeared.

Unfortunately, no network driver is available for the HP 655 with Win 8.1 on the HP side, for Win 8 already, but does not work that driver with me synonymous with compatibility settings. Also driver offers other sites (I limited myself to .com pages) did not help much, in between the point network driver back in the GM, but the problem still reported a not properly installed network driver and after a reboot, everything was back as after BIOS update.

Could someone suggest me something good?

If the manufacturer of the laptop does not offer drivers you are pretty much pinched in the bum.
So what is one of the big drawbacks of laptops.

At best you have a chance, if you determine the manufacturer of the network card or your motherboard (depending on where the network function is integrated) and look for the driver with him.
This can be a nice puzzle game (I've got something for a Medion laptop!)

An alternative would be an https://www.amazon.de/...0018Z4GCE/ or an https://www.amazon.de/...01M4J1H1U/

I can only suggest you, if you can help I can't say unfortunately.

I would completely delete the wireless hardware and drivers in the Device Manager and then restart the laptop. Then yes, the automatic hardware detection (PnP) the Wi-Fi adapter "rediscover" and ask for drivers. Then please use the original driver from HP. Note that there are several wireless adapters installed in this laptop, so choose the right chip manufacturer.

Or if you know the wireless chip manufacturer (Qualcomm Atheros, Ralink, …) exactly, then maybe try on the website of the wireless chip maker a suitable driver. Here are 2 driver download pages of popular manufacturers:

https://www.ath-drivers.eu/atheros-wireless-drivers.html

https://www.mediatek.com/products/connectivity-and-networking/broadband-wifi

Or follow this wizard for problems with wireless…:

If nothing helps, then reset the laptop at a time when the Wi-Fi is still working (how do you do that google).

Or is simply just the wireless hardware via key combination (or even in the BIOS) disabled.

Many thanks for the tip, but the driver is indeed no longer listed in the device manager. Since Win 8.1 has several bugs that did not occur to me under Win 8, I considered that I would simply downgrade. For Win 8, network drivers from HP are also available.
