Is the Surface Go 2 worth it for school?

I would get the Surface Go 2 in the absolute basic equipment for school.

I would only use it for the Internet and Office.

Since my computer is very slow, I thought the Surface Go was better than an iPad because it has full Windows!

Is It Worth Buying? Or would you rather buy the Surface Laptop Go?

to

In my opinion, the SurfaceGo is definitely worth it. I have one next to me myself and use it as a (full) second PC for home office and media streaming. But I didn't want it in the absolute minimum equipment. 4GB main memory is simply not enough these days, as is 64GB hard drive. It's full of bad updates from Windows. I would recommend the slightly larger model with 8GB / 128GB. If you still want a slight leap in performance, take the one with PentiumM.

Incidentally, I have the device without a keyboard and pen, but with the Surface Docking station. But you shouldn't need it at all, a simple USB-C dock will probably do the same.

Unfortunately I don't have that much money left because I got relatively expensive things at first. Can't I use the 4GB version with an SD card or should I wait for the next Surface Go?

to

If you can wait, wait This is better than spending money on completely outdated equipment.

Very important: The 4 GB are RAM memory. This is the main memory that the computer needs while it is working. The memory is volatile. So it is emptied when the computer is shut down. This is completely different from hard disk space. An SD card has absolutely nothing to do with RAM memory. Please do not confuse them.

Yes, I only mean the model by that. The question is whether 4GB RAM is enough with a 64GB high speed SD

I upgraded my laptop from 4 to 8 GB myself. 4GB is very tight, I wouldn't go under 6GB of RAM.

If that's a work machine, 64GB is pretty generous for files. But multimedia eats significantly more. You will probably have to outsource your photo collection. Anyway, it's better than always lugging it around with you in your pocket.

Before you get the Surface GO2 with minimal equipment - i.e. 4 GB and 64 SSD… I would rather recommend the "normal / old" GO with 8 GB and 128 SSD…

We have a GO and a GO2 with the m3 processor - both with 8 GB and 128 SSD…

The storage capacity can easily be expanded with an additional 256 GB MicroSD card… But we don't have a lot installed and 55 GB are already occupied… 64 GB would be really tight for the system disk. Even with 4 GB I wouldn't even start…

The "normal" or "old" Surface GO is always on sale… We recently bought it for 449 euro including TypeCover (also for studying) … And I'm really surprised how well and smoothly you can work with it… The GO2 with the better processor is only faster if you observe closely.

I wouldn't even consider the laptop… (think the Surface Go is great)

The Surface Go 2 (and in general) the Surface family is damn overpriced. You can always get a good laptop with a touchscreen aka convertible for the money. You really can't use the thing in the basic configuration.
