The fan is already dusted and an SSD is already in use.
I don't know, mine always sounds like an airplane when it takes off. : /
The x220 is a super cannon, indestructible even after 10 years.
However, it did eat up quite a bit of dust after all this time.
You have to take it apart and clean it carefully.
The fan then runs quieter again.
You could rely on balanced in BOS Adaptive Thermal Management. Simply cleaning the fan can work wonders, especially if you have had the notebook for a long time.
Is owed to the cpus. Whisper quiet is not possible. But would renew the WLP.

Does the WLP age so much that it has to be replaced? What temperature is normal for this notebook?
What CPU do you have in it?
Would swap those for laptops after 5 years. You can take a look at it, it's probably completely dried up.
