When I start my laptop, I get an error that grub (the boot manager) can't find the file /boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod. I read that means that the grub manager is somehow damaged. That's why I made a live USB stick with Ubuntu, but I can't change the boot order because I can't get into the BIOS! As soon as I press something like f2 or del or enter, it simply stops at the first start screen (where it says THINKPAD, to Interrupt normal startup, press Enter). How do I change the boot order now?
Well, I don't know about Linux, but that you can't get into the BIOS is strange. There may be a hardware error. I would try to remove and reinstall the hard drive and maybe also the BIOS battery.
