Me and my brother bought games for the Playstation 4 back then and I haven't played for a while now.
Now or almost 2 years ago I bought a laptop that is extremely slow. Now I wanted to get myself a new and better one soon, with which I would like to learn and occasionally play games.
And so that I don't have to pay twice now, my question is:
Can you play games that you bought on the Playstation 4 on your laptop or PC? (Without having the PS4 with you permanently)
No, unfortunately not. You'd have to buy every game you want again.
Yes and no.
Basically you have to buy the game again.
But there's remote play, where you can play your PS4 / PS5 games on your mobile phone or laptop over the Internet.
Then you can better play directly on the Ps4 …
I don't know, I've never tried it and probably won't. They just asked for a possibility.
No, unfortunately that will not work. On an Xbox, however, the chance would be significantly higher.
However, there are alternatives. On the one hand there's remote play. The Remote Play is an application that you can download for the PC. It ensures that it can connect to the PS4 on the PC, so that you can then stream on the PC. So you control your PS4 at the same time, but this means that your PS4 must be switched on.
The other and probably best option is "PS Now". If the streaming service has not been abolished, it is still possible to play PS4 games on PC. However, only those that are currently compatible, I guess there are not too few. The disadvantage, however, is that it is a subscription model, with monthly fees, which is probably the only "no go" reason. But this would theoretically be possible. But in practice I have no experience with it.
Maybe I could write to the game developers and ask if they could give me a product key for Steam. 🤔
I've already bought 3 games that I also had on the PS4, but maybe I could ask if I could get a DLC for free for the double purchase.
Certainly, it doesn't cost anything to ask. But I'm afraid it will probably not be that easy. Because they would have to have a very big heart for it xD
But trying doesn't hurt.
