I'm looking for two notebooks, one for my aunt and one for me.
My aunt needs a notebook for various writing programs as well as YouTube, or general surfing, the price should be under 300 and have at least 15 inches.
I, in turn, need a laptop for programming, it should of course be synonymous to watch videos, etc suitable and have about 15 inches. The price should not exceed 400 euro and it should be expandable, for example for new hardware.
Unfortunately, I do not know myself so well with the hardware and what is so necessary, it is clear but it should be quick, so include a ssd.
An operating system is not necessary for both there's Ubuntu.
I thank you in advance
Take a look at used notebooks / leasing returns on eBay or at corresponding onlineshops. As you get nice business Thinkpads that cost 1400 euro for 300 or 400 euro. In principle, your aunt does some computer (which is not even 10 years old and has a 32-bit CPU like CoreDuo). With you it depends on what you program, but i7 and neat RAM will not hurt.
T440 with i7 (14 "Thinkpad) is available with 8GB RAM and small SSD for around 400 euro
Definitely more useful than to buy such a price war "machine".
And even as a tip: with virtually any laptop, the old HDD can easily be swapped with a new SSD. New SSD with 250 GB approx. From 40 euro.
Thanks for your answer, I'll take a look.
"It definitely makes more sense than to buy such a price war" machine. " That's why I'm only looking up to 400 euro, I do not see a laptop for 2000 to buy, such a performance I do not need. I only need it for the university and for smaller software projects at home (Python, Java).
And even as a tip: with virtually any laptop, the old HDD can easily be swapped with a new SSD. New SSD with 250 GB approx. From 40 euro.
That's why I'm looking for an expandable laptop, but of course I have little idea of what, where and how come.
300-400 euro is price war. Since then only the cheapest components can be installed. Most of it is saved on the screen, because people can't judge from a distance.
You can't extend laptops. Cheap laptops are not quite right. You can only change the consumables memory and hard drive. Where the interchangeability of modern laptops is sometimes difficult.
Therefore I recommend as I said a used and the HDD by a new SSD to exchange.

Depends on it. Even if you do not do anything productive, the required computing power can quickly skyrocket. For example, For app development, 3D stuff etc.
Virtually any laptop can easily exchange the old HDD with a new SSD
Right. Is the Thinkpads a screw, pull out, plug in, copy operating system or play finished.
300-400 euro is price war
Unless you have a 3 year old top laptop for the price. Sure, a T440 or T530 is in terms of robustness no T41, which are always synonymous "cheaper" because of the price pressure but he is portable and with features such as ner keyboard through which you ne water bottle can simply tip over, etc.
can quickly boost the required computing power massively
Even then you are with a Thinkpad where you can quickly put out 2x4GB Ram out and 2x8GB Ram can put in and on the motherboard and i7 everything that was available at that time is better advised than with the 400 euro model of Aldi. If it has to be more… A P52 (or used P50) is not available for the money, so you do not have to argue that if the budget is so. The cost just 3500 or 1000 euro. But then there's the question: Does it have to be mobile?
No, it does not have to be mobile.
Then you get more and more power on desktop PC than you get for the same money on laptop. Whether 300 or 3000 euro.
