Skype accounts of girlfriend and me locked after a few days?

A friend and I have each made a Skype account, her on her, me on my laptop. Everything we did once was to skype each other as a rehearsal and to write something for us once a rehearsal. Now, a few days without use later, our accounts are both locked and can only be unlocked by entering the phone number, which we do not want for privacy reasons, etc. Can you still do something about it?

Call Microsoft and try to sort it out.

So why worry about privacy and phone numbers?
