GPU for desktop and games assignable?

Hello Is there a possibility with the desktop as well as with the laptop with the Intel IGPU a possibility to assign the Windows which GPU is responsible for what e.g. That I use my gtx 1060 for games and the old GT 710 only for desktop applications so that you tell windows which GPU serves as the main gpu

You can't make 2 different gpus in one pc

But I can build them in and they work too

Ne

I doubt it

I'm currently using the two GPUs mentioned in the PC

Of course you can. You can have as many as your motherboard has slots.

No, this is unfortunately not possible with Windows (even if multi-GPU users have been begging for years), it depends on the respective output connection on the GPU and the main monitor (with multi-monitor setups).

Let's assume you have connected your monitor to the 1060 then this is always used for it. If you have several monitors, you have to connect each to one of the two GPUs and then set the respective monitor (on the preferred GPU) as the main monitor before starting the program.

Some applications (mostly more professional creative branch / industry) e.g. Rendering software have settings for this. Unfortunately hardly any normal software in the consumer sector.

So just waiting (and maybe sending feedback to Windows) will help.

It then just uses the ones you plugged into the monitor

Vi

No, that's not right. There are definitely programs that can access the GPUs directly, even if the monitor is not connected there. See e.g. CUDA.
