Recommend an external hard drive to me?

I would like to save films, photos and files on an external hard drive. I take my laptop to university more often and would use the hard drive there. I had thought of the size of at least 1tb. What do I need to pay attention to when purchasing? I would be very happy to receive tips.

So nowadays it doesn't matter which one you take. The USB ports are soldered right away and the rest is vacuum packed anyway. Otherwise it wouldn't work. But Samsung is said to be quite okay.

Definitely make sure that it is an SSD - I got it from Toshiba and I'm satisfied - they are small, compact and easy to trade - maybe you can google for the test winner

The USB connection of the hard disk should not be lower than that of the PC. So no USB 2.0 on 3.0 then it is slower. But that would be the only thing. And well not that big different now.

I have the Western Digital Elements 2TB, I think I paid 52 euro. Runs reliably and flawlessly

What does SSD mean?

ch

SSDs have only built in memory chips and are much faster but more expensive. A normal hard disk has rotating disks and read heads. A hard drive is therefore very sensitive to bumps and falls, but a lot cheaper.

Pe

Take an SSD! They don't cost much more now. But are much faster and better.

You should think about what the record should do.

If possible

A) compact

B) be as fast as possible

C) Robust

D) unproblematic in handling

E) cheap

his.

If the A-D are important, I advise against an external hard drive and recommend a USB stick with 1TB. As a result of the fact that the flash memory is used and there's no mechanism, there's no risk that a head crash will destroy the data, it is also very energy efficient and, unlike hard disks, there can be no bottleneck with the power supply. With USB 3.0 and high-quality memory, these sticks are also relatively fast. Unfortunately, this is reflected in the price.

2.5 "SSDs are a bit faster but not as compact

HDDs are ideal when it should be cheap. Here you should make sure that the hard drive can also be operated with a Y-USB cable or external power supply, as USB is limited in performance.
