I would like to erase all data on the laptop safely + irretrievably and reinstall Windows on it (Have a laptop, on which Windows 10 was supplied)
Have the following instructions found:
1. On Windows Website: Download Media Creation Tool + Create Bootstick
2. Download Formation Tool:
3. Press Format
I'm not familiar with formatting etc at all. Now have two questions:
A) Is there any important intermediate step in the manual?
B) My laptop has only one USB-C port. To connect the bootstick I have to use the supplied USB-C adapter. What if my laptop does not recognize the adapter / bootstick after the formation?
It would be much easier to just reset the notebook - you can choose whether you want to keep or delete your data.
If you want to be sure, you can With CCleaner delete the free space completely (wipe free space).
Which tool do you want to format? There are many!
You have to take the adapter. The stick will still be recognized after formatting by the UEFI.
Both wrong! CCleaner has become quite adware, and the reset mechanism never works. Here you should really reinstall.
To the CCleaner: there are also alternative tools that can do that - apart from the fact that you can uninstall the CCleaner after use again.
and the reset mechanism never works
The reset works quite well - have done that often - also professionally. Maybe you should say better that it never worked for you ;-)
Well in my 8 years of IT experience, which I have used for family and friends so far, the reset on the best and newest PCs has always led to a problem.
You can try it and otherwise still remains the reinstallation via USB stick, which is almost as fast - actually it does not really matter ;-)
