"PC, laptop, rollout including staging, data backups, deletion."
I'll do all of that in my internship, according to the email.
But I don't know what that is, could someone help me?
Rollout = installation, configuration, adding a new device to the network
Staging =?
Data backups = creation of backups, test restores,
Delete = data protection? Delete old files that are no longer needed🤔
Thanks for your answer. That helped me a little.
Can't you imagine anything under staging? Tried with google but it only showed something of occupation.
RoadRage3 has already described it well. I know "staging" as a simulation of the network environment to be created on a small scale or in a version comparable to that which is to be installed at the customer's facility.
A staging environment is usually referred to as a pre-live environment in which changes can be tested before they are distributed / rolled out to the productive systems in order to identify problems in advance (i.e. Before customers are affected)
I know staging from our test website.
So our main page (which our customers see) is under domain.com, but our test page (for the devs) we call staging.domain.com
I can't imagine more than that… But I think your internship can say more about that.
If I can give you advice, don't get into IT unless you love it… I speak from experience with my own company. Follow the news every day and train for at least 2 hours a day (unpaid) to stay up to date… You run out of time. And none at all… But well, I only advise against it. You throw your life away if you take this path
Thank you.
Thanks for the information.
What kind of advice is that? If you are not interested in what you do, that applies to just about any job. Or in which occupation do you not have to keep training?
So I love IT and could imagine something like that too. I also always find out about the latest technology. Although that happens automatically because I like that
Ne I speak of love not of liking. And, for example, as a system mechanic, train driver, etc. You don't have to train yourself every day, 1-5 times a year is enough
That's written really stupid. It took me a short time to understand what they mean… How can you please understand that without professional experience…
I think the rollout is known. You provide PCs / laptops / etc. At workplaces and set them up. Everything that belongs to.
Staging: Presumably the inventory, i.e. Recording the hardware in the database and assigning it to the user or room.
Data backup: Presumably backing up the data of the old PC that you are exchanging. The saved data is then copied to the new computer.
Delete: Dismantled computers are deleted before they are sold / scrapped. This means that all data and settings will be deleted / reset. There are certain tools to do this. If you delete data, they are not gone immediately but are initially only marked as deleted until they are overwritten. When deleting with these special tools, however, all data is overwritten so that it can't be restored.
We call this erasing clean or wipe. I think it's more logical. You don't delete the computer, only the computer's data
So I also work in IT and can only contradict what you write here. Where did you work In a bank or something?
Yes. Many people who looked for work with me have already said this and it turned out that the "love" was not so great.
A little test that we like to do is: Grab some food, coffee, optionally cigarettes and bury yourself in your office and work, e.g. By further training, listening to lectures from CCC and co., Running messages on the side and not doing anything else for 6 days. If you can get through this and the "love" is still there, you can go into IT with a clear conscience.
and a little hint, if you work in the office use a trackball. This saves space and is easy on the hand, at least with the MX Ergo from Logitech.
Own specialist company for IT security and IT forensics has existed since 1999
Well, that's clear then. But that's not what a "normal" FISI does. This is very special and goes more towards the pentester. As a pentester you have to stay up to date, of course, but you also get significantly more money than a PC exchanger and fitter.
Well not really, we currently only have offices where we do the same work and, with a few exceptions, only with a low level of security, as unfortunately many do not take IT security seriously.
Mhh ok
Unfortunately, that is true about IT security. Until a company is attacked and you lose everything, IT security is of last priority.
Yeah That's awful. But it is standard for us that we make a full backup every week and then store it offline in the safe. Accordingly, something like that wouldn't be dramatic for us.
But it's worth it. Hourly wages up to 250 euro gross.
Yes, as a FISI, I only get an hourly wage of 20-25 euro. My tasks are also much easier, but well, if you have a vacancy and want to take one that you have just completed, let me know.
When I like to expand. But then that means buffalo, buffalo, buffalo
Cool xD
In fact, IT forensics has always been my unattainable dream. I don't have a high school diploma, no university studies and so on, because theory was never my thing. Nevertheless, I was able to teach my instructor a few things in the first year of my apprenticeship. In the third year I trained the people and looked after the trainees. So my résumé is wrong. Unfortunately, only a few are interested in this. But I'm only 19th time to see what kind of opportunities I get.
Maybe I'll open my own shop too. But that will probably be even less.
Btw. I don't have a Abi xD either and am still one of the best in my area.
Ok, very good, what's the name of the company? XD Then maybe I'll remember you for later.
All those who are successful in IT somehow do not have a high school diploma or are even dropouts etc.
I can give you my email address, just need to figure out how to write a PM here.
