I'm writing an essay about whether students can use i pads or laptops in school. What arguments do you think of (for and against).
Ipads are handier and offer almost the same functions as a laptop.
However, more is possible on a laptop than on an Ipad.
Programming, image processing etc… It becomes rather difficult on an Ipad
I see it rather positively when students work directly on electronic devices in school, for example. Saving paper and allowing you to write faster.
What I would see, however, would be very negative if one were to officially choose Apple's IOS and thus bind the students to this manufacturer.
A multi-platform school application that runs under Windows, Android and IOS or OSX and is optimized for touch input as well as keyboard input would be better; this could easily be implemented as a web app.
For further arguments you can think about it yourself.
Depending on the subject and the subject, I think a laptop makes a lot of sense. I don't really know anything about iPads.
We've been allowed to use a laptop for math homework for the past two years for Geogebra. The same applies to the Matura.
Everything else was done purely by hand, regardless of whether during the lesson or during exams lasting several hours.
Computer science classes were also pretty neglected, which will eventually become a real disaster and you have to teach yourself the things.
A bit more digitization would have been worth it, although you shouldn't overdo it with laptops, etc. Degree with the younger kids.
Lol, we've been using ipads for a long time. But paper is better
We also use ipads, but why do you think paper is better?
Because when I write with the ipad either type or the apple pencil it doesn't go into my head.
When you write, you remember that better
As far as this is included in the lesson, it is fully o.k. But they shouldn't be allowed to use the devices as pocket calculators.
I would also allow students to record lessons in order to post them on the net. Then everyone would benefit from it right now and future students and their parents could get an idea of the lessons at this school. Only, of course, the Philologists' Association will somehow know how to prevent this, is clear as day. LOL!
