Connect two active speakers?

I got some active speakers for my birthday some time ago. Now I would like to combine the two for my New Year's party. Would only connect my laptop / tablet. Unfortunately I don't really know my way around the cables and would be happy if someone could help me there. My system:

Hi! Normally you would connect active speakers, each with its own amplifier, directly to a mixer.

As variant 1 you could use something like this:

https://www.thomann.de/...yx_802.htm

You can get this small mixer for currently 49 euro at Thomann. Advantage of the story: You control everything with the mixer, i.e. If available, you could connect a microphone there and have less cables to the box. You put the e.g. Maximum volume at the box and then you no longer have to turn it on - you control the "event volume" centrally via the mixer. The laptop comes into the cinch input of the mixer via a Y-cable and one box comes to the left and right CLINCH OUTPUT of the mixer. So you only have to lead ONE cable to the line jack input of a box and NOT physically connect them to each other. So you are much more variable in structure. That would mean that you still need a CLINK CABLE of the appropriate length per box, but these are also available by the meter from Thomann. However, 10m cables for 2 pieces also cost around 30 - 40 euro, depending on the quality. But you would have a "permanent solution" that you can also use for other celebrations. However, if several audio components (CD players, MP3 players, record players etc.) come into play, a DJ mixer is more suitable, since these are better designed for hi-fi sources, but you have to dig deeper into your pocket,

If that was out of the question: I do not know this box directly, but after looking at the connection options (inputs and outputs) I suggest the following ALTERNATIVE configuration as VARIANT 2:

Connection of the laptop / computer via Y-cinch cable (jack for the laptop and 2x cinch for the box) to the cinch LINE INPUT of box 1.

Then via the cinch OUTPUT of box 1 with a cinch cable into the cinch INPUT of box 2.

The problem, however: I assume that the two boxes will be 10 m apart. You already need a high-quality cable of the appropriate length, once from PC to Box 1 and once from Box1 to Box 2.

I would rather tend to variant 1, even if it is probably a little more expensive, but I think that the interaction of the technical components is the better solution.

Hi @doncredo, thank you for your help. The boxes would not even be that far apart. Would there be a variant to use it without a mixer and just buy cables to connect the two boxes to my tray? 😅

Yes, variant 2 … The laptop or tablet only have one exit, so the route is as described: PC -> Box 1 -> Box2

Would I then need 2 cinch connections and a Y adapter?

Fr

Or cinch cable

la

You need a Y-cable 3.5 mini jack stereo to two cinch plugs, provided the laptop has a small jack socket as an output.

And secondly, a normal cinch cable with plugs at each end for the exit or entrance from box to box. Greeting

Mega!

Have just tried it, somehow it didn't work 😓

What doesn't work? Is there no sound at all? If the plugs are correct (inputs, outputs) then you have to unravel the cause:

1. Laptop on a box and look. If there's no sound, the laptop output may not be able to supply enough juice, especially when it comes to headphone outputs. Then you need an amplifier box.

2. If 1. Is not the problem: Connection between the boxes does not work: Question whether the output signal of the box is suitable… Have a look at the operating instructions for what this output is intended for.

And it may also be that the cable is the problem…

As I said, I still keep my variant 1 best, but actually this should also work with variant 2. Greeting
