HDMI cable delay?

I play FIFA 21 on a relatively powerful laptop, but I have decided to transfer the picture and sound to my LG (43UM74507LA) TV with a 10m HDMI cable, as my TV is now further away. I did the same for FIFA 20 last year, but with a 2m cable (TV was closer to the laptop) and for an LG TV that differs only slightly from the current one. Everything there ran smoothly and without delay, but not today. The picture and sound are transmitted, but there's always a delay that prevents the game from flowing in each game. However, it can't be due to the cable length, as on the laptop, since I have already tried the transmission via 2m cable and also had no success. 99.9% of the time it can't be due to the TV set, since, as I said, both models do not use anything. Now my question. What's wrong? Does anyone know?

Update: have looked and all image enhancement options are on! Still everything is the same.

You can usually determine the type of input signal in the TV settings (for example in the form of a gaming mode). With most input signals such as Bluray Player etc it does not matter how delayed the picture is, so the picture can be improved and recalculated before it is output. That can delay the picture a lot, so you should try to set the source to "Gaming" or turn off all possible picture enhancements

Sh

99.9% of the time it can't be due to the TV set…

But. It is mostly due to the TV set. Specifically on its image enhancement algorithms.

They delay the image signal by up to 4 frames - depending on the set strength. Which at 50FPS easily makes up 80ms.

Deadly in a first person shooter if you ask me.

Sl

Had forgotten to add: I had already activated the game mode (that's what it's called), still delay.

Sl

Apart from the image mode, what are there for image enhancement algorithms and how can I display them?

Sh

I can't tell you that, every TV set manufacturer does its own thing.

Usually there's a game mode that switches off all image improvements and thus also reduces the delays to a minimum.

(see answer from DoWhileTrue)

Sl

Yes, by picture mode I mean game mode, which has already been set to the optimum. Unfortunately, I'm anything but a connoisseur when it comes to technology and have absolutely no idea what to exhibit.

Ch

Ok… Can it be that it is not the image that is delayed, but the input from the controller (or the input device)? If you put the laptop right next to the TV with game mode on, how much lag is the TV picture?

Sh

In any case, it's not the length of the HDMI cable.

HDMI is a serial P2P connection. No continuous signal is sent but individual data packets. If these arrive mutilated, they are simply discarded.

A cable that is too long does not manifest itself in delays but in a kind of grit of snow on the screen.

Sl

Is generally not very much delayed, whether 10m or 2m, but still decisive for the game. In addition, both the controller inputs and e.g. Mouse pointer delayed, so the whole picture.

Sl

I know that it's not the cable, as I said ^^

Ch

Then please check whether all options for image enhancement are switched off in the picture settings of your television (these are, for example, TruMotion, anti-aliasing, upscaling, image enhancing, noise reduction, sharpness enhancer, true color accuracy, …)

Sl

Thank you! I will try soon

Sl

I have now found nothing under image, sound and general, not a single point from you. The other setting criteria are only the transmitter, connection, security and accessibility, where probably nothing like that will be.

Update: I looked at all of the image editing functions and switched them off! Still everything is the same.
