After yesterday's Windows Update notebook totally slow?

Yesterday a new, important Windows Update was installed, since my system runs much slower than before.

With you, too?

It's not typical that Windows 10 slows down with every update. You would have to take a closer look at your system. First I would clean up the hard drive and then check for errors. To clean up, you can use your Explorer after right-clicking on the drive letter c:

The check is made e.g. Via the command line command chkdsk c: / f / r.

Then the following hint appears, which you have to answer with J:

CHKDSK can't be executed because the volume is being used by another process. Should this volume be checked when the system is next started? (Y / N)

The review can take a long time. If your computer hangs in the process (at least 10 minutes do not stir anymore) or I / O errors occur, then with great certainty your hard drive is defective.

This has been going on for years. For this reason, among other things, I no longer use Windows. On the laptop of my mother, I have decided to turn off all updates despite the risk, because the system is unusable after installing all the updates from the performance point of view. The status for SP1 now remains.

With me the keyboard does not work

That does not sound particularly valuable to what Microsoft distributes.

A friend had an extremely slow laptop with Windows. Besides Win, I have her a modern Linux installed (is free / does not need a key / does not spy like Win) - under Linux the computer runs, is virus-safe and has many more useful programs than the lean equipped Winos.

A modern Linux, aha. Is there an unfashionable Linux?

Under https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major you can compare all aspects of the most important Linux.

My tip is Linux Mint Cinnamon, which has all the programs I need and is easy to use. Screenshots, list of programs, download link, homepage and user ratings are shown. Also the precursor versions you are asking for are listed.
