Which device - tablet or laptop?

I want to be able to write with a keyboard, Internet, it should be easy to take with me.
I like Linux, I didn't want to use Windows.
Should be connected to a printer, so that I can print.
Youtube if it were, would be great.
Smartphone alone is too insecure and too small for me.

Do not play games or have no special interests or demands on a device.

But quality should be rather good.
Or have a good price-performance ratio.
Would a price up to 450 euro be enough?

What is the best thing to take?
What should I pay attention to so as not to be disappointed?
Do you have any links?

I'm completely satisfied with Apple Ipads.

Mine costs around 900 euro (Ipad Pro 11 '), but there's, for example, the Ipad Air for around 450 euro

If you don't like typing on the screen, you can buy keyboards. These vary greatly in price and quality from 20 euro "China cheap goods" to 180 euro from Apple itself.

In terms of requirements, I'm definitely on laptop.

If you want to use Linux, you should do without China brands, because the driver support is usually not good. Lenovo, Dell, HP are all mostly well supported, because the Linux kernel developers use it themselves and program it if necessary and that will end up in the next kernel release and (eventually) with you 🤣 I have had good experiences with Lenovo.

Up to 450 euro you can get along pretty well, but if you spend more, you will probably have more of it for years. My experience.

Absolutely important is at least 8GB RAM, SSD at least 256GB, at least 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI is always practical, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. What is very practical is a USB-C 3.1 with PowerDelivery (PD) and Displayport (DP) support. This allows you to connect a docking station and a lot of accessories. I did it is really great.

Make sure that no dedicated graphics card is installed, you only need this if you are doing video editing or playing games.

As for the size, you have to decide for yourself. 14 "and smaller is much more mobile, but also a smaller screen. If you have an external monitor, that's not a problem.

I recently bought the Lenovo Thinkpad E495 and am very happy with it. But with SSD, etc. At over 600 euro. However, an IdeaPad should also do this for private users. You just have to look. When the technology markets open again, manda can also look around and get advice. Most of them know well as long as you say the demands directly and at least pretend that you have a clue. 😅

However, due to the lack of USB ports, the problem is that there's no printer that is not in the (W) LAN.

That's true. In my case there's a Wi-Fi printer so I didn't even think about it. But aren't there extra adapters that can then be plugged into the power connector of the iPad? Similar to the headphones on the Iphones

I do not know that. Because of the lack of compatibility, I always avoid Apple devices 😅

If there are no problems with Linux, choose a notebook with Linux support directly from the manufacturer, e.g. Here: https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/

Dell and Lenovo also offer support for Linux for individual devices from their range, but these devices are mostly aimed at software developers.

"If you want to use Linux, you should do without China brands". Not necessarily, Lenovo is e.g. A Chinese manufacturer.

Yes, point for you. One should do without cheap Chinese brands… 😅

As a laptop I would recommend this: https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/...7es+656251 This is delivered without Windows.

As a Linux distribution, I would recommend Linux Mint Cinnamon. To install it you have to deactivate in the UEFI secureboot what is possible with this laptop. In addition, you should connect the laptop to the router with a network cable before starting the installation because then the WLAN driver will be downloaded automatically during the installation.

My brother has this too and he also uses Linux Mint Cinnamon.
