Exchanging laptop display, what could go wrong?

Today I will change the display of my Lenovo Y50. As you can see on one of my older questions it is obviously not wrong, but just damn bad! 😅 So now a new IPS display on video recommendation (15.6 "B156HAN01.2 for 60 euro)

But I've read a few times that people have broken the motherboard! O.O I'm a bit scared. Unloading on the radiator and so it is clear, the best battery outlets I guess - but then? How can something like that happen, is this possibly on the display itself, that it is not compatible or something? Do I have to pay attention to something? That's why I took that from the video, because at least once I saw that it was possible (or can go…)

Cable break, contact is lost, you break the case, because everything can go wrong, if you already ask, as if you have zero idea.

Thanks for the friendly response, that will help me. 😂 Do not intend to fling the notebook in the open state in me. I explained below why I'm worried. The affected motherboard is not smoked as carelessness. What do you mean by "contact is lost"?

This is even relatively manageable and varies by model, but it usually reduces to the following:

- Flex tapes tear. You have to be very careful.

- The part that holds the flexbands breaks. I find it very difficult to pay these things.

- Parts are glued. That's very nice to get something like that. Although heat helps, but the stuff does not go off and you always live with the fear that something could (regardless of whether too much violence or heat) broken.

- Screws are missing or are too much afterwards (then they are missing somewhere inside) or you can't assign screws.

- There are no or insufficient information about how certain parts are removed. You think that's all the screws, pull too hard on something and it breaks.

- Sneezing throws everything away. You could drop things. Therefore, a good workplace to choose, ideally a black PVC floor. So screws can't be swallowed as if from the ground.

Have you ever tinkered properly with a notebook?

If yes, then do it. If not, then watch out.

My tip (I worked for a while as a Lenovo service technician for Think products).

Best use anti static mat if not grounded.

Battery out first. Then try to start it (press the power button for a few seconds) if nothing goes well. You'll be dealing with a lot of flat cables and pretty lightly soluble connectors for them. Be damned careful. If you damage your MB while solving it, it was. It's best to slowly try to solve them.

Then you have the hardest managed if you have abgekopelt the old display. Carefully remove from the lid, install a new display (Caution may break.) And rewire. Pay attention to the hinges, that there are no cables in the way or break when folding.

And then reassemble everything and be good.

Ok, thanks a lot! I have not often tinkered with laptops, this is just new (used). Had it but already twice open and have replaced the hard drive + dust removed. But quite often have tinkered with PCs, even assembled, cooling paste changed, etc. But the display is new Unfortunately, no anti-static mat - hope a wooden table does it too.

To join me Tulga: take care with the sneeze: such a mouthguard as the dentist can help if you have to sneeze often. (Especially if some dust comes to it)

El

Thank you very much! Luckily there are a lot of videos about my model and there's nothing glued (otherwise I would not have dared).

El

I'll pay attention to it 😂 In general, the box is already dust-free & I hay fever free.

Okay, good news. After the usual thrill (at first I thought there was a scratch / tear, but it was only the film, then the cable was not right in it, then he needed 2 attempts to start before he recognized the display), the display is installed and looks much better out! 😂 Only one clip from the frame is broken, but that's not important.
