My father owns a Lenovo Yoga 500 14ibd about which he complained that it was slow. I tried to remove viruses, update drivers, update the bios and upgrade the ram to 8GB, but that didn't do much.
I then reinstalled Windows to the latest version and deleted all existing data (important things had a backup). Of course I also installed all drivers again. However, the laptop is still very slow.
The laptop is so slow that the SSD takes 1 minute to boot instead of about 20 seconds, it takes an eternity for every search in the browser and is also not able to play videos at 1080p (previously this was not the case).
I then installed benchmarks to check if there were any hardware problems. The AS SSD benchmarks didn't find anything suspicious, but UserBenchmark says that my components perform far worse than equivalent components. You can see more here:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/...n/29662876
Then I thought that the laptop might have temperature problems, but with CoreTemp it mostly stayed stable at around 50 degrees.
Can anyone help me please?
Well it's just yoga. These are not ultrabooks. So they are not the fastest from the start. The SSD could be old and "used up". Maybe I would exchange it for a good one from Samsung or something. Have the same problem with my Ultra Book. The SSD is extremely old and therefore just slow.
AHCI mode activated in the BIOS? https://praxistipps.chip.de/...ehts_41687
I know that it is not the fastest and as I said, I suspected something about the SSD, but the values show that of a normal entry-level SSD. In addition, as I said, I only have about half the points in UserBenchmark compared to those that have the same components as me.
AHCI is activated.
OK
Do you have any other tips?
It might still be due to a defective ram, but since you upgraded it, it probably won't be replaced. Otherwise I have no other idea what it could be.
Otherwise, reinstall Windows again without installing drivers. Windows 10 installs the necessary drivers itself. I also inserted and installed the driver CD right after the installation, so I immediately shot the system.
Installing drivers was only necessary for Windows 8 and older.
Only with high-performance gaming graphics cards do drivers still have to be installed manually today.
