Why doesn't the printer print?

My system: laptop Lenovo i3, ca 5J, windows10, Brother DPC 195 C multifunction printer connected via USB

The printer has not been printing from Lenovo Lappi for about a week. Other laptops are no problem.

Now I have put the Lenovo back on after a lot. And it was printed. The next day it was no longer possible.

All the help from the net brought nothing. The printer is defined as a standard and is displayed. Not stopped or offline! There's no error message. Nothing. Everything as always only that the printer does not press anything. Everything really normal. The queue opens briefly and disappears again as if it had been printed.

The diagnostic programs can't determine anything either. Pressing the test page is also not possible.

The printer is displayed as usual via Control Panel and I can access the scanner from there. Copying also works quite normally.

With Spooler the printer is also switched on… New driver didn't work either

Since it is displayed, the scanner responds and printing from other Lappi works, the printer and the feed line should be excluded as errors.

What else could I try?

Possibly use a different USB port on the Lenovo.

The problem with laptops is often that the printer changes over. Do you find your printer selected in the print preview and then print?

The last Windows Update (June 2020) could be the culprit.

Windows users everywhere are reporting problems with the print spooler.

Here it is:

My proposition:

Uninstall the last Windows update and then try again. When the printer works again, you know the reason. If so, I would temporarily disable the automatic Windows updates until Microsoft has a solution.

Addendum:

On the heise side there's also a possibility that might help. Quote:

"The first bug prevented https://www.borncity.com/blog/2020/06/11/windows-10-bug-usb-drucker-werden-nicht-erkannt/ from Windows 10 version 1903. The error always occurs when a USB printer is switched off or offline and then shuts down Windows 10. When Windows is restarted, the operating system is no longer able to recognize the printer, which is then missing from the list of printer ports. This problem can be solved by turning the printer on and restarting Windows 10. "

You can try it.
