Printer reports offline even though it is on?

I have a Canon Pixma printer. Such a simple printer for the home office. I also used it to regularly print out things from my laptop or cell phone. It always worked perfectly. I just wanted to print a return receipt. As always, I switched on the printer and clicked the printer icon on my laptop. My printer was also selected there in the print settings. Suddenly I got the message "Canon printer is offline". I never adjusted anything or anything. The same procedure every day. Then I tried the same thing again from my cell phone (I Phone 10, I don't know if that matters). That didn't even find the printer. We always print via our Wi-Fi router. Something was not directly changed on it. On my brother's PC I also received the message "Printer is out of stock" or something wrong, something like that.

Take a look at the instructions.

Must reinstall the printer on all devices with the latest driver.

What is a driver?

Br

And how do you do something like that can you explain to me briefly?

Gr

The printer has some error - all paper, empty ink, etc. Then it goes offline.
If you go to the printer properties, you should also be able to see whether it is offline or online.
Connect the printer with a USB cable.

Gr

Why should you reinstall the printer if it worked before and is only offline?

lo

How is the printer connected? Per lan? By Wi-Fi? Via USB?

if he is connected via Wi-Fi and you have not done anything with it for a long time, it may be that he has been given a different address if you have not assigned it permanently.

in that case i would simply recommend to reinstall the software for the device, then it should work again.

I can say that from my experience, it happens to me more often
