I reset my laptop (not because of a virus etc) and had to reinstall many programs. Including Audacity. I clicked on the Windows Download on the website https://audacity.de. My Download Manager showed me this message: This file contains a virus or malware. I did not click on the download and removed it from the history. Now I'm afraid that I have a virus. I ask for the fastest possible help.
No you do not need to be afraid as long as you have not finished any download, it's fine.
Nope, you did not download the file! All right
No, the download was prevented.
Many Thanks.
One does not invite Audacity with Audacity.de, but with

You do not have a virus, because you did not download anything.
This file contains a virus or malware. I did not click on the download and removed it from the history. Now I'm afraid that I have a virus. I ask for the fastest possible help.
All right and you do not need to worry. You did not run the file and deleted it directly. However, antivirus programs can and do give "fals-positive" messages. In other words, hoax will be issued.
I'm currently on my iMac on the go, I can't look at the installer of (unofficial!) Audacity website. Possibly contains the "only" additional bloatware you can deselect or nothing else are included but the Audacity files.
If you want to be sure that everything is alright with your system. Just let the Malwarebytes scan run over it. Malwarebytes is free in the base functions and there's also a portable version of it at PortableApps.com. Audacity is also offered there.
