What makes a notebook over 1,000 euro so expensive, the processing (material), CPU or graphics card?

La

At Apple the name. Not more.

Otherwise, development costs are one of the biggest items.

ab

At Apple, the name and the advertising, You will get similar notebooks from other manufacturers for a fraction of the price

Ko

I think the processing at Apple plays a role.

Gu

Not correct.

ab

Prove your thesis with logical proof

La

In the old days, there's not much left in the meantime.

Apple is not what it once was. From perfectly crafted and thoughtful, mature products Apple is already far away.

Gu

Not correct.

Macbook Pros are expensive in their price range but justified, if you consider them as a complete package.

La

No it is like that. Macbook pros are justified? A notebook that can't even be retrofitted? In this price range? Says everything about the great package.

ab

Määäp! The notebooks are kept as cheap as possible in the production, and are therefore easily broken.

ab

R.I.P Steve… We will miss you.

Gu

So first of all, I find it interesting that everyone, even though Apple is not even mentioned, go straight to this company, almost feel provoked. If an Apple user did the reverse, he would be branded as a fanboy.

Your own thesis is too sweeping. At Apple's name and advertising. Then nothing.

But with other manufacturers you get exactly the same for a fraction of the price.

If we go out of the Macbook Pros. You get a very well-made laptop with a battery life of 12 hours, a charging time of just over half an hour, 4 times USB C, an unrivaled display, a very large pressure-sensitive trackpad (every laptop user should know how such a thing works relieved if you have no mouse), a fingerprint sensor, extremely good speakers, considering that they are laptop speakers, and an extremely strong performance (outside of gaming) even in the 13 'standard version.

And all in an aluminum shell for about 1.5 KG.

Plus, you get the touch bar, which some people find more, others less useful, it's now pretty damn well integrated and fully configurable and MacOS, which, understandably, enough people prefer, for example, Windows.

Also tell me only 1 device that offers these features (apart from Touch Bar and MacOS). In the overall package.

All Mac critics make a crucial mistake. You reduce a Mac to the processor and the graphics card. Oh there's only one Intel HD510 in there, that can't be good. I always like that, because at this moment people are showing that they have no idea. Would you like a comparison?

I have the MacBook Pro 2017 13 'with Touch Bar for 2000 euro. I also own an Asus gaming laptop from the same year for 2000 euro. The Asus has about 2-4 times the hardware (i5 Dual 3 GHz vs. I7 Quad 2.8 GHz, 8 vs. 32 GB RAM etc etc).

I tell you, everything, absolutely everything, invariably, on the Windows laptop is worse. The keyboard is rubbish, the trackpad is tiny, the speakers you can't even call speakers, we listen to Mono, the display is a joke in comparison to my MacBook, and the performance is ONLY better in gaming. The battery has sunk so hard within a year that the vll lasts for another 2 hours. And the thing is completely made of plastic and weighs about 3 KG.

I use partly the same programs! I have Ableton on Windows and Mac. On my little MacBook I have almost twice the performance than on the Windows. Of course, it also runs a thousand times more stable. I can easily restart my freshly set up Windows 1-2 times when Ableton hangs up again.

Already on my old MacBook Pro 2012 with Intel HD4000 I could work in Blender demanding (Ocean Simulation) and it worked! Take a Windows computer with the same hardware, have fun, it does not work these days.

Can theoretically give you much more examples. I'm not an Apple fan anymore, for example. The iPhone pricing policy is a disgraceful shame. But MacBooks are among Apple's products that are unbeatable in the TOTAL PACKAGE. There's no cheaper Windows laptop which has such good hardware (and hardware is not just a processor) and such good net performance.

Rendering in FCPX, 4K, 30 minutes of clips within 6 minutes, the laptop becomes lukewarm.

Then, in my experience, the things still fit properly even after 6 years, everything works, stays fast, you never have to rebuild your OS or install or update any drivers and you can still sell it for 200-300 euro after 5 years

Gu

Why do you want to retrofit it? It is not or hardly slower than a Windows computer.

Lu

Stupid stuff, just Apple is least for advertising.

Lu

Et al The production. In industrial production, all parts are never perfect, there's always an "error rate", parts or devices that are not garbage, but not 100% i.O. What do you do with it now? If it should be as cheap as possible, of course, you can't afford a lot of committee and must let everything go through what somehow (first) works. With luck that lasts a long time, with bad luck it does not survive the guarantee. Depending on the claim (and price!) You can go through more or less mistakes. So here we go: Apple Fault Tolerance is ZERO. That is, the 5 - 20% faulty parts, the others still obstruct land at Apple on the garbage or go back to the supplier. Some 400, - € - laptop gets the motherboard / GraKa / screen etc. Built-in, of course, the supplier does not pay. Can you imagine as in the household: the one throws the bitten apples away, the other processed them to applesauce or - cake ;-)

Go into an e - market and open various laptops and on, then you should notice that cheap creak, others not. Keyword build quality.
