Strange question I know, the following problem: I have a small Samsung TV which I have a docking station attached to my laptop. I simply use the TV screen as a second screen for my laptop. But now I want to look at something, but unfortunately the sound is played through the speakers of my laptop instead of the speakers of my TV. Does anyone know how I can change this?
Thanks in advance!
Oh, as an operating system I use Ubuntu, but that should normally not matter, right?
What is the TV connected to? (HDMI, VGA, …)
You can use the sound settings to select the output device. There, select the TV.
DVI, unfortunately, the device under sound is not displayed as an output device, I test the whole maybe again under Windows
DVI can't normally transmit sound. Since you have to probably connect it via an HDMI adapter to the TV.

Alright, thank you very much! I just get a quick HDMI cable, that would probably be the easiest.
Yes.
