Which MacBook Pro should I buy?

My dear,

I'm studying Business Informatics and I need your advice. I have the MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) at home. 2.8 GHz intel core i7. I love the computer above all and I'm very happy with it - I just have the following problem, the laptop is pretty hard to drag back and forth. I would like to purchase a second device for mobile activities. Now the question is what:

I have informed myself that the pro does not have much difference to the air. That's why it can be the 13 inch mac book pro
do you find the newest processor and thus also the Touch Pad necessary?
Do you have alternatives to the MacBook Pro, so windows, where you would say it is insane and much better?

As I said, weight and height are important to me. Preferably the smallest, but with a lot of power.

Dear ones, your answer is really close to my heart.

Lo

Can you look at the Surface Book, the display unit is a full Windows Tablet and extremely light and narrow

Ju

I'm just completely honest and tell you that I'm not a fan of MacBooks, especially since the quality has lately lessened, with error-prone keyboards and screens, bad cooling, etc. Good on MacBooks trackpad and screen, even if the keyboard is not defective, but I think the Tastenhub too low.

My personal laptop favorite is the Surface Pro, a hybrid laptop tablet. In terms of performance it is almost as strong as the mid-to-high class MacBook Pros, but it is much more flexible, supports pen input (perfect for writing in lectures, much faster and more comfortable than typing, especially if you're using diagrams or sketches) / want to do, or you expect something).

Of course, it is a full-fledged PC running all Windows programs, unlike the iPad Pro, which only runs Apps from the Appstore, which makes it impossible to use some professional programs.

With keyboard, the Surface Pro weighs about 1kg, and is about 1cm thick, I have it every day in my backpack and notice nothing of it. It is my daily companion in my studies and I'm always happy to have it, because it helps me to have everything in one place. Notes, documents, presentations, and so on and immediately. All I have to do is take my Surface with me and I have everything with me, I hardly need any paper anymore.

Whether Mac or Surface, for your purposes I would recommend a PC with the latest i5 processor and 8GB of RAM.

Dear Ones, I thank you very much for your answers, also from @ buffalo23. Find it out loud from you. I've never heard of the thing before but it looks awesome, especially the black one has a crush. I have seen that the keyboard can be removed. Is it still as strong as a normal keyboard, because I do not like the keyboard on the iPads, unfortunately. Like pushing on cardboard. And you have to the still similar laptops, which are in great demand in the market? Asus, for example, what do you think? As I said the smallest and the most powerful and I think the Surface really great, thank you very much.

I'm happy, that you like it. I still have a Surface Pro 3, meanwhile we're already in the sixth model, but nevertheless I'm always happy to have a Surface, and I think that means something, even if you are still 5+ years old so satisfied. I will definitely buy one again. The Surface Pro is made of a magnesium alloy and very clean processed, the colored keyboards (Typecover they are called) are covered with Alcantara fabric. So here really noble materials are used, overall, the surface devices I find very noble, as it is also known from MacBooks.

The Typecover of the Surface Pro are significantly better than the iPad Pros, but of course not as solid as that of a "massive" laptop. Still, it has a surprisingly large amount of keyboard movement, in fact more than a MacBook, which I've criticized before. The type cover has a magnetic stripe on top again, which docks on the display, which gives the type cover additional stability, at the same time the keyboard is angled and not lying flat on the table, which makes typing more pleasant.

Here you can see this "mechanism" in detail:

This makes the Type Cover on tables quite stable, it's possible to use it on your lap, but not optimally with the Type cover, but here you can use it as a tablet without a keyboard.

I would recommend you try it in an electronics store, in many there's now a Microsoft table with the Surface devices. When testing, of course, also test the mechanism with the magnetic strip.

By the way, the Surface family has even more members:

The Surface Go is a mini version of the Surface Pro, but also has less power and is ideal for surfing and for easy office work.

The Surface Book has a massive keyboard, is larger and more powerful than the Surface Pro, making it heavier and much thicker. But even here, the keyboard is removable.

Then there's the Surface Laptop, which is a normal laptop, without removable keyboard. The special feature here is that this keyboard is covered with Alcantara.

The Surface Studio is still available, but this is a desktop all-in-one and therefore probably not interesting for you.

And yes, I love the trailers of the Surface devices.

Asus thinks I sometimes fluctuate a bit, some models are good, some less, I would Asus generally more in the middle class settle their high-end products in my opinion can't quite keep up with MacBooks and Surfaces. Dell and HP have some pretty high-end laptops, but they are not as flexible as a Surface Pro, but they are solid, classic laptops. The Lenovo Thinkpads are also solid laptops, but I find their design horrible. The plastic is probably more than the metal of MacBooks and Surfaces, but still plastic does not feel so noble.

And still to the black Surface Pro: I've heard that this is much more susceptible to scratches than the silver, because you have to take good care of it. But I can tell you that the silver looks really great as well. I also think that stands out more than the black. But you can argue about taste.
