Which laptop is recommended in 2020?

I urgently need a new laptop / notebook because mine is no longer working. I've already worked on the internet, but I'm scared of making a bad buy because I'm not really familiar with technology. I would mainly use the laptop for university, but of course I would also do other things (netflix, spotify, etc.). My research has shown that Lenovo ThinkPads and Macbooks should be among the best computers, but as I said, I'm afraid of making a bad buy.

Above all, it is important to me: the quality e.g. (e.g. Longevity, battery life) and also the weight of the laptop (as I said, mainly I will use it for university, i.e. Also lug around)

Can someone help me there? And if Lenovo Thinkpads and Macbooks are really the best options, which one do you recommend?

A more detailed description would be more helpful. Open questions are e.g. Yet:

Size of the display (13 ", 14", 15 ", 17")? ⇒ The general size of the laptop depends on this.
Which display resolution? (Full-HD, WQHD, UHD)
Which programs do you need (possibly because of the university)? ⇒ That usually clarifies the question of whether Windows or macOS and which performance (CPU, RAM, graphics card) is required.
How much SSD storage do you need?
Which connections do you need?
What is your budget

You said you'd spend 1200 euro.

Actually, I would tend towards the Thinkpad L series (I bought myself recently) + monitor for home.

Or

T-series Thinkpad.

I would prefer the first combination because the T14 itself has exactly the same components. Only gives a brighter display, which is smaller.

From Apple I advise against frequent repairs that do not fix the error, battery changes only by sending them in and that always takes 6 weeks. If you buy the computer so that you always have a computer and don't have a spare computer, then an Apple computer is the wrong choice.

Lenovos are not bad, but they are very ugly.

I would buy a Dell XPS over and over again (with the long warranty), you will enjoy it for a long time.

If you want something fast, light, compact, easy to repair with almost infinite battery life, I can recommend this one to you: https://hardwarerat.de/...ws-10?c=67
