Radeon Pro 5600m or RTX 3080 for 3D?

Since my 2014 MacBook Pro is slowly giving up in terms of performance for what I'm doing (3D animation and rendering with Blender), I want to get a new laptop, but now I'm wondering whether I should wait for the new 16 MacBook Pros or the Asus Zephyrus Duo with Ryzen 9 and RTX 3080 mobile should get. What do you think is stronger in 3D: The current AMD radeon Pro 5600m (OpenGl) or the RTX 3080 Max-Q (Cuda / OptiX)? I love MacOs and Final Cut, but the Asus is tempting. 😉

So I would take the RTX. But that's probably because I'm a gamer.

But I think she will have enough power for your work

Sa

The ROG Zephyrus Duo GX551 is far more powerful than any Macbook

Do you do it professionally or as a hobby? Desktop not an option?

The 3080 should be significantly better. However, I don't know what the software optimization looks like in MacOS

Mi

Since you have Blender in your topics, I assume that this is your primary software. In this case, clearly RTX GPU.

Much better integration, also support of Optix (RTX Cores) + CPU for rendering at the same time.

If I may also note, laptops are still not the yellow of the egg for 3D because of the heat development, if you can't live with being very mobile buy a desktop PC. This is usually cheaper for the same performance

Desktop, laptop, I know. But desktop is not an issue for me because I need something mobile. Is it not possible to render on a macBook with Radeon Pro via CPU and GPU at the same time? I only have experience with my 2014 ONLY with CPU. 😂

Mi

As far as I know, not all features are supported by the AMD GPU. I can't say 100% what it currently looks like with the rendering of CPU and GPU at the same time, a few years ago I didn't think it was possible.

Ka

Professionally but also a lot privately. I have now decided on the Asus, thanks! 🤗
