Would I get enough money for my PC to buy a new RTX 3080 laptop?

Since I have to travel back and forth a lot in the future because of my studies, I would like to sell my PC to get a gaming laptop. Laptops with the Nvidia RTX 3080 should be released in the future and I've already looked at some models that are estimated to be released at around 2000-2200 euro.

Now I ask myself how much money I would possibly get for my PC if I sold it. What do you think a good price would be?

Here are the specs of my PCs

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

INNO3D iChill x3 RTX 3080

Gigabyte b450m S2H motherboard

16Gb Corsair Vengeance DDr4 Ram @ 3200Mhz

CoolerMaster Master Air Ma610p CPU cooler

1Tb Crucial NVMe SSD (2100Mb / s read | 1800Mb / s write)

2Tb Seagate Barracuda HDD 7200rpm

120Gb Kingston Sata SSD (500Mb / s read | 480Mb / s write)

BeQuiet System Power 9 750w power supply

Sharkoon TG5 PC case

(As I said, I'm only asking for price estimates. This is not an attempt to sell my PC on this site!)

Could be close, but if you add something I think so

Fr

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x = 345 euro new

INNO3D iChill x3 RTX 3080 = 1124 euro new

Gigabyte b450m S2H motherboard = 56 euro new

16Gb Corsair Vengeance 3200Mhz = 93 euro new

CoolerMaster Master Air Ma610p = 48 euro new

1Tb Crucial NVMe SSD = 80 euro new

2Tb Seagate Barracuda HDD 7200rpm = 50 euro new

120Gb Kingston Sata SSD = 22 euro new

BeQuiet System Power 9 750w power supply = 70 euro new

Sharkoon TG5 PC case = 69 euro new

= around 1,957 euro new price (01/27/2021, 4:00 a.m.)

Now the question is how long the PC has existed, whether there's any damage, whether it has been overclocked, etc…

I would put it on the Internet for around 1,700 euro, negotiations are still going on anyway. Then when I get my 1500-1600 euro I'll be satisfied.

The most valuable thing about the system is the GPU and in the end it is also the price driver. The new one currently costs around 1,100 euro, so the current shortage should also play into your cards. Used you will get the card (individually) but not for more than 950 euro, possibly even 1,000 euro.

However, the entire configuration would not be an option for me.

I would have chosen the Ryzen 7 5800x as the CPU, on the one hand because of the 8 cores and on the other hand because of the slightly higher single-core performance. These are "only" 100Mhz, but they definitely make a difference. Well, the R7 costs ~ 150 euro more than the R5, but not only would it have been worth the extra charge, it would have been inevitable for me.

With the R5 you are therefore well positioned, but for me it should have been the R7.

The RAM… With 16GB you are too weak and it should have been 32GB. You can only drive two bars on the board, which makes it inevitable (at least for me) to install two new bars and remove the current ones. 16GB with this configuration are just not enough in my opinion.

I'm aware that there are some voices that believe 16gb would be completely sufficient for current gaming systems (they even go as far as 8gb would be enough), but I can say from my own experience that this is not always the case. With my configuration I manage to surpass the 16GB (when gaming) regularly and I'm glad that I installed 32GB RAM. I never get the 32gb full, but the 16gb is sometimes significantly higher.

The M.2 is very nice, but no longer a price driver. The parts are now available to buy relatively cheaply and yours is in the midfield in terms of speed.

The HDD… Would fly out of my system immediately, followed by the 128GB SSD which, due to its small size, would no longer be used for me. Well, the HDD is well suited as a mass storage device, but actually only for that. Music, photos, videos / films and Co. Can be wonderfully saved on it for more, but actually not anymore. If someone has large raw data to process (video editing etc.), then such a disk makes sense, for a pure gaming system, in my opinion, the M.2 would be completely sufficient.

In my current system, I also only have a 1TB M.2 SSD installed and can handle it very well. Well, my 1Gbit / s line plays into the cards because I also get downloads of ~ 100gb quickly through the stage, but with less bandwidth I would expand the whole thing with a maximum of 1TB SSD.

I made the experience that a lot of storage space goes hand in hand with a lot of data garbage and that is a no-go, especially for HDD disks.

Well, as far as the amount of memory is concerned, you're flexible, that's just my point of view.

As for the NT… Sure that your NT is a 750W NT? As far as I have that in mind, the "System Power 9" series is only available up to a maximum of 700W.

Regardless of this, the NT would not be an option for me, not because it had too little power, it is much more because it is only a bronze. It is quite sufficient to fuel the system, in a gaming system and especially in one with these resources, a Gold NT would be the minimum for me. Some are of the opinion that efficiency does not matter if the NT delivers enough power, but efficiency in a gaming system is always an important factor to consider - if only because of the lower temperatures.

The case… It looks good, but the reason why the case would be a NoGo for me is the front. The fans in the front look great, but with the small slots on the side they don't get enough air to work properly. Well, this is a problem for a lot of modern housings, but it is mainly due to the RGB and the optics.

The three fans in the front can't be supplied with sufficient fresh air at higher speeds, which leads to a negative pressure between the fan and the front panel. This negative pressure not only reduces the cooling performance, but also particularly the service life of the fans. I don't know now whether the fans have a variable speed, but that would be an important point for me to be able to supply the system with more fresh air at higher loads.

Respect for the detailed evaluation. But make it shorter. Your needs are not relevant here and guys like you and I would never buy used hardware "blindly" anyway, for certain reasons.

He can be happy if he gets roughly half, if not less.

I know the people. I once wanted to buy a TV or smartphone. Boy they wanted prices. I was also able to buy a new model there. 🤦

Gu

You'll never get it. Either customer A has no idea what the hardware is worth or customer B knows what it is worth, but is a slit ear and goes so far for reasons. It's with cars and the vulture doesn't know otherwise. 😁

Fr

That's always a thing, yes. You just have to look. In addition, I would have to see the Pc to appreciate it exactly.

Gu

In our store, young people with money worries and offer their hardware from time to time. Only that they have no idea what it's even worth. Here we go. But even if I do, my colleague won't buy a pig in a poke. Not even if it were for your own needs.

Fr

Is no different with us. Better to go in higher than too low

Kr

The pc is really not configured well. You can put it in quickly for 1650 euro and if no one has reported for a realistic price after 2 days at the latest, sell the items, starting with the graphics card, with which it is most important that it is removed very quickly because it is the most is worth and can quickly lose value. I'm sure someone will pay around 1000 euro for it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I tend to go a little further and then such texts come together, but I tried to summarize the whole thing again briefly at least at the end.

You are 100% right.
